Just found out that there’s a WordPress app for Android so I wanted to test it. I typed up this post using that same app. Works perfectly I think.
Since I have such a fascination with everything Korean I’ve been trying out the Korean cuisine as well. I already made some Miyeok Guk (seaweed soup), Bibimbap and this week I tried to make one of the most famous Korean dishes: Bulgogi.
Bulgogi is a Korean dish that usually consists of marinated barbecued beef, chicken or pork. It is listed at number 23 on World’s 50 most delicious foods readers’ poll complied by CNN Go in 2011. (source)
On Wednesday I prepared everything using this recipe. I let it marinate for a whole night and we had it for dinner on Thursday. It is supposed to marinate at least for half a day but I didn’t have enough time to prepare on Thursday. Although I followed the recipe exactly and even used more garlic, I found it a bit bland though. Might use some hot pepper paste next time. It was still delicious though, but a little more spicier wouldn’t hurt. Parents thought it was good and even the dog had a little bit to eat. Daebak!!!
Thanks to Jian for recommending the recipe. I think I saw it on Maangchi as well, but never thought I could make it or find the proper ingredients. I didn’t use sirloin though, just pre-cut beef. Paid like €10 for a pound! Freaking expensive but worth it in the end. But yeah, next time I’m going to add a little hot pepper paste to spice it up. Yum.
This is how it looked after preparing everything to let it marinate. I know I cut the carrots wrong… Beginners mistake. :-)
And this is how it looked on my plate. It tasted better then it looked though.
I will definitely make it again. I wonder how it tastes when I use different kind of beef. Jian suggested using rib-steak so I’m going for that next time. Ahhhh, can’t wait!
